National Parks
Serengeti National Park
The park size is 14,763 sq km and is about 335 km from Arusha, It was established in 1959. This park is the best known wildlife santuary in the world. In this park there are more than three millions large mammals, some 35 species of plains animals may be seen including the ''BIG SEVEN'' i.e bufallo, elephant, lions, leopard, rhino, cheetah and african hunting dog.
Manyara National Park
The park is 330sq km and when the water levels are high 200sq km is the lake.This park is famous for its tree climbing lions which spend most of the day spread out along the branches of accacia trees about six to seven metres from the ground.
The best time to see large mammals is in the dry season (July- Oct) and the best time for bird watching, waterfalls and canoeing is during the wet seasons.(Nov-June)
Arusha National Park
It was established in 1960. It is 40 minutes drive from Arusha town and 30 minutes from Tengeru.This pack consists of three very impressive strinking features, Momela lake, Mount Meru and Ngurudoto crater, its also famous for its 575 species of bird life, both migrants and resident, and black and white colobus monkeys.
The best time to climb Mount Meru is June - February although it may rain in November. Mount Kilimanjaro can be viewed in December- February
Tarangire Natinal Park
The park was established in 1970, located 75miles from southwest of Arusha ,it has a 2,850 sq km. You can enjoy day trips to Maasai and Barbaig villages and hundred of ancient rock painting in the vicinity of Kolo on the Dodoma road. The park can be visited year around but the dry season from June to September is the best for the sheer.numberof animals.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The Ngorongoro crater is 2,286 meter above sea level,it is surrounded by very step cliffs rising about 600 meters from the crater floor.The crater is a natural santuary for some 30,000 animals including the ''BIG FIVE'' of buffalo,elephant,leopard,lion and rhino.The crater is home to cheetah,hartbeest,hippo,hyena,jackal,reedbuck
The best time to visit crater is during the dry seasons (June to Sept) for the shear numbers of animals, but it is impressive at any time of the year.. Urafiki house can facilitate and organise for comfortable travel to the above parks and crater at resonable cost.
